This new exhibition that will open in December 2011 will feature material from Army nurses, Women’s Land Army, Voluntary Aid Detachments and the Women’s Royal Australian Army Corps.

Upstairs (Cell G5 & 6) - Governors Exhibition

This display in relation to the Governors of Tasmania reveals that most of our Governors had Military or Naval service prior to their appointment as the Queens representative. Displayed are three different styles of uniform worn by Governors

Upstairs (Cell G4) Cameron Family Exhibition

This exhibition showcases some of the extensive material from the Cameron Family Collection and includes various items from 1870 – 1930. It has been described as the most significant collection of military uniforms and equipment related to one family held by any Australian Museum.

Upstairs (Cell G2 & 3) - World War One

This World War 1 display features the story of three Tasmanian brothers from the Orchard family and memorabilia related to their service.  The display also includes the uniform of Private Chilcott of the 12th Battalion who was wounded on the morning of the 25th of April 1915 at Gallipoli.

(Front Room E3) - Model of Anglesea Barracks

This exhibition is a work in progress and the visitor can marvel at the complex task our volunteer staff are engaged in to show all the buildings that were on this site in 1942. It is open but will not be completed until early in 2012
