The Australian Army Museum Tasmania is always looking for volunteers and can offer

a variety of work options in the museum as outlined below,

  • Cataloguing and Collection Identification and provenance
  • Conservation and maintenance
  • Display Preparation & Maintenance
  • Preparation of Educational Materials
  • Photography
  • Publishing
  • Research
  • Restoration & Repair
  • Tour Guide
  • Training & Development
  • Weapons Maintenance
  • Librarian

Currently our volunteer staff include retired trades people, a dentist, police officers, paramedics, engineers, nurses to name but a few of their previous occupations. Neither age or lack of previous military experience is a barrier to becoming a museum volunteer. We are looking for people who can provide hours on any day of the week (by arrangement) and work in a team.

The Museum also provides training opportunities that may include inter and intra state travel to enhance specific museum related skills. A uniform is also provided.

Prospective volunteers will be required to have Police Checks.
